Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN) is a 10-digit alphanumeric number. The number is required to be quoted on all TDS returns under Section 203A of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The TAN number is needed to be obtained by all those persons who are responsible for deducting and collecting taxes. Almost all profit entities and not-for-profit entities are required to obtain TAN.
Individuals who are salaried are not required to obtain TAN or deduct tax at source. Tax Deducted at Source must be paid through Challan number 281, at any authorized bank/branch, must be filed with the TAN number.

- Application form (Form 49B)
- PAN number of the firm/company
- Address proof of the registered office
- Partnership deep/ Memorandum and Article of Association
